Vishnu Manchu’s ambitious mythological film Kannappa is witnessing a slowdown in its box office journey. After a promising opening, the film’s collection has seen a dip in its second week.

Day 11 Collections Show Drop

As per early estimates by Sacnilk, Kannappa earned ₹15 lakh on Day 11 (Monday), bringing its total box office collection to ₹32.08 crore. The film had earlier earned ₹30.2 crore in its first week across multiple languages. However, the second weekend showed declining numbers—₹45 lakh on Day 8 and ₹60 lakh on Day 9.

Telugu Occupancy Trends

On July 7, the overall Telugu occupancy stood at 16.78%, with morning shows faring better at 18.53%. However, the viewership declined during afternoon (14.99%) and evening (14.50%) shows, before slightly improving to 19.11% during night screenings.

Star Power & Storyline

Released on June 27, Kannappa features Vishnu Manchu in the lead, supported by notable cameos from Prabhas, Akshay Kumar, Mohanlal, and Kajal Aggarwal. The film is directed by Mukesh Kumar Singh and is based on the mythological tale of Thinnadu—a fierce warrior whose transformation from atheism to unwavering devotion to Lord Shiva forms the core of the narrative.

Visual Grandeur with Some Criticism

Shot extensively in New Zealand, the film boasts grand visuals and VFX. However, critics pointed out pacing issues in the first half. Still, the emotional climax, strong performances, and cameo appearances received appreciation.

In its review, ETimes noted,

“Kannappa scores high on visual and musical impact. While some VFX elements falter, Sheldon Chau’s cinematography and the sincerity of the production shine through.”

Cast and Crew

Alongside Vishnu Manchu, the film stars Mohan Babu, R. Sarathkumar, Madhoo, Preity Mukhundhan, Mukesh Rishi, Brahmaji, and Brahmanandam in key roles.
